Updated On: Feb 09, 2017
Redding, CA – The Union that represents over 1,000 Shasta County employees announced today it had made significant progress in negotiations over the past few days. The Union conducted a five-day strike last week over the Retiree Admin fee and safety issues.
Chris Darker, Business Manager for United Public Employees of California Local 792 said they believe significant progress has been made in their discussions with the County. “We have scheduled a series of informational meetings for our members between now and next Wednesday to educate them on the details”, said Darker. Additionally, UPEC has scheduled a contract vote over 3 days between Feb 15-17th. UPEC expects to announce the results of that vote after 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb 17th.
UPEC said since they and the County have reentered confidential contract negotiations, they have declined to elaborate on the details that may lead to a final settlement.
