Local 792 has hundreds of members who participate in the Laborers Industrial Pension Fund. Business Manager Chris Darker invites Fund administrators to the Local every other year so members have an opportunity to meet face to face. Meetings will be held in Weaverville, Yreka, Alturas, Willows and Redding either during lunch or at 5:00pm. A post card announcement will be mailed out to members in the next two weeks. There are several changes to the Fund for 2008. Members will receive a letter in the mail from the Pension Fund in the next couple of weeks. Members are encouraged to update their addresses and other personal information prior to the meeting to ensure they receive updates and their annual statement.

LDF Approves NPS Rangers for Coverage
HEADQUARTERS - National Park Service Rangers will soon have additional protection. Business Manager Chris Darker announced today that the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) Legal Defense Fund (LDF) will work with Local 792 to cover their NPS Rangers. UPEC began representing NPS Rangers in July 2007 in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). Darker met with the LDF Trustees this week in Southern California. “This decision by the LDF trustees is huge for our Rangers”, stated Darker. The Fund will offer civil and criminal coverage/representation. Darker also assisted LIUNA representatives from the LIUNA Midwest Region this past week in gaining approval for coverage for their law enforcement officers in Illinois and hopefully in the near future for officers in Missouri.
