Shasta County General Unit Approves Contract
Tuesday, June 01, 2010
The Shasta County General Unit has voted to approve the Mediator’s Proposal and will now be covered by a two year contract that will expire on April 30, 2012. The following is included in the contract. The retirement for NEW HIRES will be changed to 2% @ 60 and be based on the highest 3 years effective as soon as the PERS contract is changed. Employees will begin paying the employee contribution to PERS. The first 3.5% would be effective the pay period including June 6, 2010 and the next 3.5% would be effective the first pay period of January 2011. Additional classifications in Mental Health would be added to be eligible for shift differential. The Health Plan will be continued to be discussed in the Joint Issues Forum, any changes will have to be approved by the membership or will have to be brought up in the next negotiations. The ability to buy back 20 hours of vacation a year will be expanded by one month to include October. The months to be able to buy back vacation would be October, November, and December. The reference to the Overtime 7(b) exemption will be deleted and this will affect employees who work 12 hour shifts and receive straight time for the first 84 hours of a pay period, by deleting this reference any time earned after 80 hours would be calculated as overtime. The Union will have email access with restrictions (i.e., maximum of four emails per month, maximum size of 450 KB, no political communications).
The Shasta County General Unit will have a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 5:30 PM at the local Union Office, a postcard reminder will be sent out to the membership.
