Both Modoc Court Units Finalize New Two Year Contract
Thursday, March 03, 2011
On February 16, 2011 the Modoc Superior Court General Unit and the Modoc Court Confidential/Court Reporter Unit signed new Memorandum of Understanding’s (MOU) with the Court. The MOU’s will be in place until January 31, 2013. The employees will receive a one time $500.00 stipend effective after ratification; a second $500.00 stipend will go to the employees within the next six months; both sides have agreed to meet and confer over any health insurance increases that may take place in the time period of February 1, 2012 through January 31, 2013; the Court has agreed to move all employees to the LIUNA “preferred” schedule and pay all increases for the next two years; language for the deferred contribution plan has been placed in the MOU; additional family members have been added to the bereavement leave section; wage scale for the Legal Process Clerk I and the account Clerk I classifications shall be equivalent. Current incumbents of the account Clerk I classification shall not be affected by this change and they shall remain at their current wage schedule. The Court has developed an Educational Incentive/Tuition reimbursement Plan for all employees; and the Court will allow any employee who meets the criteria to request a maximum buy back of up to seventy-five (75) hours of accrued vacation leave.
I would like to thank Bekki Ingraham who worked as the lone bargaining team member and who coordinated all employee input from the General Unit. Bekki did a great service in a sometimes thankless job. Thanks also to Stacey Case who acted as the alternate for the bargaining process. The Court was represented by Jim Duncan from the A.O.C. and Laura Yeier from Modoc Superior Court. Court Executive Officer, Linda Ostoja and Presiding Judge Francis W. Barclay also assisted in getting both sides to a successful conclusion.
Dan Humphrey, long time court reporter for Modoc and Siskiyou County, will be retiring at the end of March. Congratulations Dan and enjoy your retirement!
