Modoc Medical Center to Pay OT Owed to Ambulance Personnel
Friday, January 15, 2010
The Modoc Medical Center has finally begun the payment of overtime owed to fifteen employees of the Ambulance Department at the hospital. During negotiations in the summer of 2009 the Union learned that the Ambulance Department had erroneously denied overtime to its personnel basing their decision on a special exemption for police officers and firefighters. The Union immediately brought this to the attention of the new administration at the hospital and it has taken until now to pay the employees what they are owed. These thousands of dollars in payments will be going out to these employees over the next four paychecks.
The error was made upon the inception of ambulance personnel as full time employees at the hospital over two years ago. The Union would like to thank the employees of the ambulance crews who perform a dangerous and heroic job for the citizens of Modoc County for being patient through this long and drawn out process. The Union would also like to thank the current hospital administration for recognizing the error when it was brought to their attention and eventually rectifying the problem.
