Redding Employees to Vote April 20th

REDDING - About 35 City of Redding workers in the City Electrical Department will vote on Wednesday, April 20th, to decide if they will form a union with the United Public Employees of California Local 792. Business Manager Chris Darker reported the CIty and UPEC had signed a formal agreement Thursday on the rules and conditions of the election. City of Redding staff posted the election agreement Thursday announcing the details of the election. “We have done what the employees asked us to do giving them an opportunity to vote whether or not to be represented. It is in their hands now”, said Darker. The unit ended up with only City Electric Department employees. The vote tally will occur around 6:00 pm on the 20th and if successful the new unit will be identified as the Miscellaneous Technical Employees (MTE).
