Shasta County General Unit Meeting Update
Tuesday, June 14, 2011
On June 13, 2011 fifteen members of the Shasta County General Unit (SCGU) attended our meeting at the Union office. The members have decided that monthly meetings should be held throughout the rest of the year to keep the employees informed on the negotiation process and other matters that may come up. Your current contract will expire on April 30, 2012. Steve Allen will again be the Chief negotiator for your Unit.
The following items were discussed at last nights meeting:
Meetings should be held on Mondays starting at 5:30 PM. Meetings will be held at 1800 Park Marina Drive (Union Office).
The Union will utilize the County e-mail system to notify the members of upcoming meetings. We will also continue to mail notices for a period of time.
Only Union members will be allowed to attend future meetings and be involved in the negotiation process. If you do not know if you are a Union member or a fee payer you can contact Patti Wyatt at 245 1890 ext. 100 or by e-mail at . Patti will let you know your current status. It is a simple process to change your status.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday July 11, 2011 at 5:30 PM at the Union office.
The members decided that drinks should be provided to the members at the next meeting.
An overview of all meetings will posted on this website after each monthly meeting.
The County will be issuing a new smartphone agreement for any member who has chosen to use their own personal phone to integrate with the county computer system. Remember that if you use your phone that any data contained on that phone may be accessed by the County. Failure of an employee to turn that phone over to the County could result in a charge of insubordination.
The County is also enforcing current travel restrictions. Make sure that any travel to and from meetings be done during your normal working hours if you want to be compensated for your time.
On July 6, 2011 there will be a JIF (Joint Information Forum) for all of the bargaining units. The County has expressed an interest in changing to the CSAC EIA insurance carrier from your current PERS insurance carrier. We will be reporting on this topic at our next meeting on July 11, 2011.
If you have changed your mailing address or e-mail address please contact Patti Wyatt at 245 1890 ext. 100 so she can make the changes.
At our next meeting we will have an update on the JIF meeting as well as an accounting of the members negotiation fund and the proposed changes that Governor Brown has brought forward. Other agenda items can be added by contacting me at the below numbers.
Remember our next meeting will be on July 11, 2011 starting at 5:30 PM at 1800 Park Marina Drive.
