Friday, March 25, 2011

100 years ago today, 146 workers inside the Asch Building in New York either burned or leapt to their deaths when the Triangle Fire broke out on the 8th, 9th and 10th floors of a busy clothing factory.  Inadequate safety measures were to blame as the company had allowed exits to be blocked by boxes, oil to be spilled on the wood floors and stored in open containers, workers were densely packed in to the workspaces with nearly no space between them among other serious problems.
